Mila
Privacy Policy
Mila is a Greek language learning app: an offline dictionary, saved vocabulary with spaced-repetition review, and a structured lesson path. This policy describes what the app does with data.
Last updated 29 August 2026
The short version
Mila works offline and has no user accounts. Your saved words, review schedule and streak live on your device. Nothing is sent anywhere unless you turn on cloud backup, which is off until you choose it.
What stays on your device
- Saved words, review cards, streak and settings — stored with the platform's own key-value storage.
- Dictionary and example sentences — bundled inside the app; searching never touches the network.
- Reminder time — used only to schedule a local notification on the device. No reminder data leaves the phone.
What leaves your device, and only if you ask for it
Cloud backup (optional, off by default)
Turning on cloud backup in Settings signs you in anonymously — no email, no name, no password — and stores a single JSON document with your saved words, review cards and streak, so you can restore them on a new install. The document is stored on Supabase and readable only by the anonymous identity that wrote it. Turning backup off stops any further upload.
To delete a backup, use the delete option in Settings, or contact the address below and include the anonymous user id shown in Settings.
Crash reports
When Mila crashes or hits an unexpected error, a crash report is sent to Sentry so the fault can be found and fixed. A report contains the error, the stack trace and basic device and app-version information.
It deliberately does not contain anything you typed or saved: your dictionary searches, saved words, review history and tutor conversations are never attached. Breadcrumbs are switched off entirely, and no user identifier, IP address or contact detail is attached to a report.
Crash reporting can be switched off in Settings under Data.
AI tutor
Messages you send to the AI tutor are forwarded to OpenRouter to generate a reply. Only the conversation you are having is sent; your saved words, review history and dictionary searches are not. If you do not use the tutor, nothing is sent.
What Mila does not do
- No advertising, no ad identifiers, no tracking SDKs, and no analytics of how you use the app.
- No location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera access.
- No selling or sharing of personal data with anyone.
- No account, email address or phone number is ever requested.
Permissions
- Notifications (Android and iOS) — only to show the daily practice reminder you enable yourself.
- Run at startup (Android) — only to re-register that reminder after the device reboots.
This website
mila-learning.tech is a set of static pages hosted on GitHub Pages. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and embeds nothing from a third party — fonts are served from this domain rather than a font CDN, so no request leaves it. GitHub processes server logs, including visitor IP addresses, as part of serving the site; that is covered byGitHub's privacy statement.
Children
Mila is suitable for general audiences and collects no personal information. Crash reports carry no personal information either.
